Usually, conservation starts with nonprofits. Maybe a government grant. A wildlife trust. But in Blairgowrie, Scotland, a small-town fishing club decided to skip the middleman.
In 2023, the Blairgowrie, Rattray and District Angling Association (BRDAA) bought a stretch of the River Ericht—one of Scotland’s key salmon rivers—in a move that turned heads across the fly fishing world. They didn’t do it for profit. They did it to save the fish.
