Since its inception in 1998, the IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame has honored anglers, scientists, conservationists, and industry leaders who have shaped the sport through their passion, dedication, and innovations. Each year, a select few are inducted into this prestigious institution, joining the ranks of the most influential figures in fishing history.


Meet the Inductees

This year, the IGFA welcomes six exceptional individuals into its Hall of Fame, each of whom has made significant contributions to the sport. From pioneering new fishing techniques to breaking records and fostering conservation, these inductees represent the very best of what fishing has to offer. The 2025 class includes Andy Mill, Gary and Sherrell Carter, Gene H. DuVal, Captain Skip Smith, and Captain Richard Stanczyk.



Andy Mill



Transitioning from a celebrated Olympic skiing career, Andy Mill has become a distinguished figure in fly fishing, particularly for tarpon. His tenacity and strategic approach to tarpon fishing have set him apart, earning him multiple wins in prestigious tournaments. Gary and Sherrell Carter

As a dynamic husband-and-wife team, Gary and Sherrell Carter have set numerous IGFA World Records in light tackle fishing. Their passion for the sport has taken them to remote fishing destinations around the world, where they have explored new waters and developed innovative techniques. In addition to their personal achievements, they have been active in mentoring young anglers and advocating for ethical fishing practices to ensure the sustainability of fish populations. Gene H. DuVal

Gene H. DuVal has been a pioneer for women in angling, becoming the first female angler to surpass 100 IGFA World Records. DuVal’s influence has encouraged more women to take up the sport and has solidified her legacy as a true trailblazer in fishing history. Captain Skip Smith

His extensive knowledge of tournament fishing has made him one of the most sought-after captains in the sport. As the longtime owner of Bud N’ Mary’s Marina, he has played a pivotal role in fostering a thriving fishing community and preserving the region’s rich angling traditions.
