What exactly am I selling?

You’ll be selling curated fly “boxes” that you design — but they don’t need to come in literal boxes. You can package your flies however you normally would: small bags, envelopes, cardboard inserts, or any method that keeps the flies protected during shipping. What matters is the collection of flies you put together, not the packaging style. All items are made-to-order, so you only tie and package a box once a customer buys it.
How much does it cost to join?

Do I need to keep inventory?

Not unless you want to. Everything on Behind the Vise is made-to-order by default, and your tying time is built into the shipping timeframe. Most tyers prefer this because it keeps things flexible and low-pressure.

If you ever decide to keep some inventory on hand to speed up fulfillment, that’s completely up to you, but it’s never required.
How do I get notified when I receive an order?

What if I want to change or update my box later?

What if I don’t know what box I want to sell yet?

You don’t need a fully perfected idea. Just submit your best concept. we’ll help refine it, adjust flies, talk through the structure, and shape it into a box customers will love.
How does pricing work on the Marketplace?

We add a small Marketplace margin on top of your chosen materials cost and profit when setting the retail price. It usually ends up around 20%, but it isn’t a fixed number — it varies based on the flies in your box and the audience it’s meant for.
